PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Police say a traffic accident sent a pedestrian plunging off an elevated roadway in Philadelphia, leaving him critically injured after a 60-foot fall and one of the drivers critically injured. A police spokeswoman said the accident happened shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday on 30th Street near the city's main train station. Police said a westbound car on a cross-street collided with a southbound vehicle on 30th Street, causing it to spin out of control and hit a wall. That sent the 27-year-old pedestrian over the side along with a utility pole. Police said he was taken to the University of Pennsylvania hospital in "severe critical condition." The 43-year-old driver of the second car was also taken to the hospital in critical condition with head injuries and possible broken legs.
