MILTON, Ga. (AP) -- Police in north Fulton County say a man accused of stealing while riding a motorized scooter through a department store is being held in the county jail. Milton Police Capt. Shawn McCarty tells WSB-TV (http://bit.ly/1B70CIn ) 56-year-old Michael Durkin picked up items while he rode a scooter through a Walmart and drove past a register without paying on Nov. 26. McCarty says Durkin then used his walker to try fleeing the store and pulled a knife on a loss prevention officer who approached him. Police say the security officer followed Durkin up the street until authorities arrived. Durkin is being held in the Fulton County jail on charges of theft by shoplifting and aggravated assault. It's unclear if Durkin has an attorney.
