BLOOMSBURG -- A 17-year-old Bloomsburg girl has been missing since Aug. 22, and her mother is asking the public for help finding her. Brooke Colby was being treated for mental health issues at Ashler Manor in Muncy when she ran away, said her mother, Nancy Harris of Bloomsburg. The girl has been without her medication ever since. Brooke apparently found transportation to the Lycoming Mall area. A couple told her mother that the teen had approached them at Gander Mountain the day she disappeared and told them that she had arranged to meet someone, but things had not gone well. She had been attacked, she told the couple, and she needed a ride back to Bloomsburg. The girl was scratched, and her hair and clothing were messed up, Harris said, so the couple believed her. They loaned her a phone so she could text her boyfriend, but the boyfriend said he wouldn't be able to get her for a few hours, they said. The couple dropped her off near Eighth Street in Bloomsburg. She hasn't been seen since. Harris said she reported the missing girl to State Police in Montoursville as well as local police. She has been posting Brooke's picture to Facebook since Aug. 24, often twice a day, begging for Brooke to call home and asking viewers to help find her. The boyfriend has told her Brooke contacted him and claimed she is safe and in another state, Harris said. But that might not be true. Brooke is smart, but she sometimes lies and manipulates, Harris said. Anyone who sees her should call police, she said. Don't try to approach her; she'll likely run, Harris added. Brooke is about 5 feet tall with a slight build. When last seen, her shoulder-length hair was black, although she does change its color, Harris said. She was wearing a green crop top with a see-through lace black shirt, denim shorts and black Converse sneakers.
