NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The performing rights organization BMI is the latest group to distance itself from gospel singer Kim Burrell after video surfaced of her referring to gays and lesbians as perverted.
BMI said Friday it will not honor Burrell after she called homosexuality sin and she will not be allowed to perform in  the annual BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music event scheduled for Saturday in Atlanta.
TV host Ellen DeGeneres also told Burrell she was not welcome to appear on her show, where she had been scheduled to sing “I See Victory” with Pharrell Williams from the soundtrack of the new movie “Hidden Figures.”
