SOUTH CENTRE TWP. — A string of vending machine break-ins discovered this week has the police asking for the public’s help in catching the culprit.

On Christmas night, a vending machine at Jim and Vera’s Hoagie Hut, 7384 Columbia Blvd., Berwick, was broken into, according to South Centre Township Sgt. Marc Fedder. Although the machine was heavily damaged, the vandal wasn’t able to access the money, Fedder said. The break-in was discovered the following morning, he added.

On Dec. 26, a thief stole the money box from a vending machine at Central Columbia’s district office, 4777 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, which was discovered the following day.

Another vending machine at 84 Lumber was broken into Thursday night, Fedder said. The thief, who had to climb the fence to get to the machine, managed to pry out the money box.

All three vending machines suffered extensive damage, Fedder said. It doesn’t appear any other items inside the machines were taken.
Anyone with information is asked to call the South Centre Police Department at 570-785-8552.
