Award-winning news photographer Jo Ann Steck remembered for wit, leadership

Award-winning photo journalist Jo Ann Steck — who broke barriers in male-dominated newsrooms by capturing some of the most notable moments in recent United States history — has died. She was 73.

Steck died on July 11 after a yearslong battle with ovarian cancer, according to her former Associated Press colleague and longtime friend Dan Hansen.

Chlorine leak prompts evacuation in Millville

MILLVILLE – Residents have been evacuated from several blocks around the Little Fishing Creek Area Swimming Pool after a chlorine leak was discovered Thursday morning.

A worker at the pool discovered the leak around 10 a.m. coming from a pump in the pump house, officials said.

The leak was contained to the pump house, however the Millville Community Fire Company and Hemlock Township Police evacuated the surrounding areas from the Millville Area School District buildings to Dog Gone Fuel on Route 42.

No injuries have been reported. 

First the shoes went back on. Now, at US airport security, more liquid in carry-ons may be at hand

WASHINGTON (AP) — Travelers giddy about being able to keep their shoes on while walking through TSA checkpoints at the airport again may have something else to look forward to: changes to how much liquid they can carry.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Wednesday during a conference hosted by “The Hill” that she is questioning “everything TSA does” and spoke of possible changes to the amount of liquids travelers can tote in their carry-on baggage.
