What we're working on for June 29

Here's a look at the stories keeping our reporters busy Friday:
* A fire in northern Columbia County leaves a family homeless. Read the breaking news report here.* The father of a man accused in a pistol-whipping tells reporter Pete Kendron that he knows his son has a drug addiction, but can't believe he'd be involved in something like this.
* Police talking to a runaway teen ended up jolting the girl's grandfather with a Taser after he started to brawl with the officers. Reporter Kristin Baver will fill you in.
* A woman decides to leave her purse in her parents' car rather than bring it with her when police arrest her on an outstanding warrant. That intrigues officers, who get her parents' permission to search the car, and find drugs inside. Susan Schwartz has the tale.
Look for these stories and more in Saturday's edition of the Press Enterprise.
