HERSHEY — Steel Valley had too much speed and talent for Southern Columbia, beating the Tigers 49-7 in the Class 2A state final.
The loss ended Southern's 31-game winning streak. The win by Steel Valley, which won all 15 games this year by mercy rule, gives the Ironmen the first state title in program history.
Southern couldn't stop Ironmen running back Najheir West, who ran for 286 yards and five touchdowns on 12 carries. The Ironmen ran for 420 yards and had 518 total yards, handing the Tigers their most lopsided loss since 2002.
