Car carrying mother, 3-year-old, crashes and rolls
MIFFLINVILLE — A mother and her 3-year-old son escaped serious injury when their car veered off the road, hit a utility pole and an embankment, then rolled.
Brittany Tersavige, 32, of Coal Township was driving the Pontiac Grand Am north on Route 339 toward Mifflinville at about 9:45 a.m. when she failed to navigate the left curve just past Aten Road.
Identity of Nescopeck bicyclist sought
DANVILLE — A bicyclist involved in a Nescopeck accident on Wednesday has been declared brain dead, and the Montour County Coroner's Office is seeking any information they can find on his identity, it said in a press release on Thursday.

DANVILLE — A California-based company plans to acquire Geisinger Health as part of a plan to launch a new system that it says will "expand access to value-based care in more communities across the country."
Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Geisinger will launch a new group called Risant Health.

BLOOMSBURG — A Jeep Patriot heading out of town smashed into a parked pickup truck and flipped onto its roof early Sunday morning.
County dispatchers said the accident on the 400 block of West Main Street happened just before 2:45 a.m.
Vacant house burns in Danville
DANVILLE — Firefighters from eight different companies scrambled to douse the flames that engulfed a vacant house, endangering neighboring homes early Sunday morning.
But they found their way blocked by electrical lines.
The two-alarm blaze at 210 Bloom Street was reported shortly after 3 a.m.
Ptlm. Devon St. Clair was one of the first at the scene. Flames were already coming out the back windows of the two-story building as he knocked on the doors in case someone was inside.
After no one responded, he made sure the neighbors were safely out.

Danville shuttle program paused
DANVILLE — The Downtown Danville Shoppers Shuttle program will be “on pause” beginning in May.
The free transportation pilot program was created in May 2022 through the collaboration of Danville Borough, the Danville Business Alliance, Fishing Creek Transportation and Geisinger.
Fire destroys Liberty Township barns
LIBERTY TWP. —Wind blew embers from a burning barn to a second barn which also went up in flames Sunday night during a three-alarm fire.
Firemen from numerous volunteer companies in three counties rushed to the scene, just south of Mooresburg, only to be confronted by two fully-engulfed large structures that began partially collapsing at 877 Bald Top Road in western Montour County.
