Vacant house burns in Danville

DANVILLE — Firefighters from eight different companies scrambled to douse the flames that engulfed a vacant house, endangering neighboring homes early Sunday morning.

But they found their way blocked by electrical lines.

The two-alarm blaze at 210 Bloom Street was reported shortly after 3 a.m.

Ptlm. Devon St. Clair was one of the first at the scene. Flames were already coming out the back windows of the two-story building as he knocked on the doors in case someone was inside.

After no one responded, he made sure the neighbors were safely out.
