Here are the stories keeping our reporters busy Thursday:

* A man was convinced the driver in front of him had just been at his ex-wife's home. At a stoplight, he got out to confront the stranger.

* Six months after the plant opened, George Beaver started punching the time clock. Now, retiring 50 years later, he looks back on the years.

* A man stuck up for his mother as she was being sentenced for stabbing him in the chest with a steak knife on Christmas Eve. “She’s really not that bad a person,” he told a judge.

* A discount tool and equipment chain is eyeing land to build a 15,000-square-foot retail store here.
