Millville fuel station is Dog Gone Good
MILLVILLE -- If you drive north on Route 42 through the blinker light in Millville, you will come across very unique gas and diesel canopies outside of the Dog Gone Good Fuel station at 533 N. State St. What you will see are large photos of wonderful dogs, who were loving pets and companions of customers, employees and the previous owners, Jerry Woolcock and his wife, who immortalized them up high for all to see. In May of 2013, the four brothers who make up Leighow Oil Company purchased Dog Gone Good Fuel from the Woolcocks. They realized that the dog's pictures were loved by more than just the Woolcocks and that they must stay up on the canopies. So, they set out to renovate and upgrade the facility inside and out. On the exterior of the building, they used stone and barn beams to create a rustic look. They also brought in new fuel pumps and upgraded the pricing signs, including a marque sign, to tell people driving by what the specials of the day are, as well as what the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots are. The retail areas of the building were also totally redone. The square footage was tripled in size. The ceilings are now vaulted, and the heating ductwork hangs from the ceiling, giving the store a very unique appearance. At the far end of the store, a brand new Subway restaurant was opened to help both the local public and travelling motorists eat healthy. A large dining area was put in for those who wish to eat their sub or salad there. Most mornings, the dining area is full of people having their coffee, reading a newspaper or catching up with old friends before going off to their jobs or home to enjoy retirement. The store itself is spacious and carries a wide variety of products. It carries a large selection of grocery items, including bread and milk, as well as paper products and cleaning supplies. It is a snacker's heaven with all your favorite brands of chips, including Middleswarth, Lay's, Martin's, Combos, Pringles and more. Quench your thirst at the soda fountain or with fresh-brewed Fuze tea. If you would rather have a packaged product, they stock Pepsi, Coke, Turkey Hill, Lipton teas, and dozens of energy drinks. There are single pick, 2 liters, 12 packs and cases of water. They also have an f'real milkshake machine that allows you to make your own milkshake. Need some caffeine? Try the always-fresh Rich Coast Coffee. In a hurry and hungry? There is a roller grill featuring Country Store brand products. They also carry more Country Store products in the cooler, like ring bologna, smoked sausage, scrapple, hot dogs and meat sticks. Need a head of lettuce or a stock of celery? They have it. A little short on cash? Don't worry --there is an ATM on site. They are also fully stocked on cigarettes and chews. They sell both online and scratch-off lottery products from the Pennsylvania Lottery. Besides selling gas products, Dog Gone Good Fuel also has diesel, off-road diesel and kerosene for sale. Gone fishing? They even have live bait. Not going through Millville? Stop at one of their other stores in Danville. Exxon Food Shop 1/Subway is at the Danville exit of I-80. Spirit Food Shop 2 is at A Street and Route 11. Both are fully-stocked convenience stores. There are also two fuel-only stations. Milton Spirit at 550 S. Front St. carries gas, diesel and off-road diesel, and the Muncy Spirit next to the Dunkin' Donuts at 1380 E. Penn St. sells gas, diesel and home heating oil. Stop in at Millville's Dog Gone Good Fuel and be treated like family by Pearl, Jenn, Bryan, Missi and the rest of the staff. Dog gone good? You betcha!
