BLOOMSBURG -- A man wearing a red ski mask and wielding a knife tried to rob two people on Iron Street early Thursday, police say. Just before 4 a.m., police say a man in the 200 block of the street took out a knife and demanded cash from two men standing on a friend's porch. They didn't have any on them, and after the would-be robber checked one man's wallet, he fled. Police said he was last seen heading south on Center Street. Police described him as between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, with a slender build. He was wearing black sweatpants, a black sweatshirt and a red mask. Police ask anyone with information on the robbery to call Bloomsburg Police at 570-784-6300. This is the second knifepoint incident in Bloomsburg in eight days. On March 5, two men accosted a Bloomsburg University student around 9:30 p.m. on Country Club Drive. Police do not believe the two robbery attempts were related. We have a reporter on the story and will update when we have more information.
