A strong storm front that passed through the area wrecked havoc — particularly in northern Columbia County — overnight.

Benton and Millville schools are closed today, while Bloomsburg, Danville, Southern and Northwest Area Schools are on two-hour delays.

In Benton, strong winds led to downed trees and toppled trailers at the Everett Street mobile home court in the borough. It leveled a municipal shed near the Benton Airport and flipped an airplane hangared at the airport.

Wires were downed across the borough, and shortly after the storm blew through, the Mill Race Golf Course Clubhouse caught fire. By morning it was leveled.

In Millville, damage was reported in the area of the schools, including a barn on Applegate Road, which heavy winds blew apart.
