Retiring surgeon reflects on 35 years

BERWICK — When Dr. Roger Crake was only 6 years old, he decided during a visit to his pediatrician’s office that he wanted to be a doctor.

“We still have a picture with him at six with a toy surgical bag, sitting on the couch,” said his wife, Michele.

Now, almost 60 years later, Crake is retiring from a private surgical practice based at the Berwick Hospital Center. The decision, he said, was bittersweet.

“I will always miss the office and hospital staff, and my patients,” he said.
