Apartment and pharmacy robbed in Berwick
BERWICK — Robbers struck a house on Front Street and the Medicine Shoppe on Pine Street Monday.
No one was hurt in either incident, and police said the general public isn’t in any unusual danger.
The two robberies appear to be unconnected, said Police Chief Kenneth Strish.
The first robbery took place at 12:22 a.m., he said.
Storm drops trees on homes
ESPY — Mary Auman heard a loud commotion in her home Monday afternoon, walked to her living room and discovered a tree branch poking through the ceiling.
A large pine tree in her front yard at 2670 Lackawanna Ave. had fallen atop her roof during a mid-afternoon thunderstorm that delivered heavy winds and downpours through Columbia County.
By the time the storm had passed, Auman had moved a TV away from a wall in her living room in the area below the branch poking through the ceiling.
