Man beat kitten with screwdriver, cops say
SCOTT TWP. — A man used the blunt end of a screwdriver to beat an 8-week-old kitten, then tried to pass her bloodied face off as a “playful” wound, police say.
Frances H. Curran III, 36, also threw the injured kitten “in the bathtub, hard,” he confessed to authorities. He then took the cat to the veterinarian to try to cover up the alleged abuse.
Curran’s roommate, Jamie Heilmeier, and her two young children had taken in the black-and-white female kitten and named it Spooks, said Officer Vincent Figueiredo.
