DeLuxe worker killed in South Centre wreck

SOUTH CENTRE TWP. - A man recently living in Danville died in a one-car wreck off Route 11, just east of the Lime Ridge interchange of Interstate 80 early Tuesday, a coroner said. Jason Snyder, 34, a native of Harrisburg, began working at DeLuxe Building Systems in Berwick about a month ago, said Frank Kynik, the company's human resource manager. Snyder had just gotten off of his second-shift job and was headed home when his car went off the road around 3 a.m., said Ron Taylor, Columbia County deputy coroner.

Four kids, two adults dead in Pa. fire on Mother's Day

POTTSVILLE, Pa. (AP) -- Fire tore through a family's eastern Pennsylvania home on Mother's Day, authorities said, killing four young children, their father and another relative while their mother was across the street doing laundry at a friend's house. The blaze broke out around 11:55 p.m. Sunday at the single-family home in Pottsville. Firefighters later found all of the bodies on the third floor of the building, which sits on a steep hillside not far from the D.G. Yuengling & Son brewery in Pennsylvania's coal country, about 90 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

Homicide charge dismissed in Pa. toddler's death

INDIANA, Pa. (AP) -- A western Pennsylvania judge has dismissed a homicide charge against a woman in the accidental drowning of her 13-month-old son in a bathtub. Twenty-five-year-old Tonya Thomas remains charged in Indiana County with endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person. Homer City District Judge Susanne Steffee ruled after a preliminary hearing Monday that there was insufficient evidence for the homicide charge,

Thieves hit Pa. family who had house bombed

EBENSBURG, Pa. (AP) -- A western Pennsylvania family says thieves stole belongings from a garage after a bomber destroyed their house. Shawn Shaner says his brother William is stunned that someone would take what little the family had left after the March bombing, TV station WJAC reports (http://bit.ly/YFfNVc ) Monday. The home was about 70 miles east of Pittsburgh. Shaner says an ATV, a snowmobile and tools were taken from the garage after the bombing, and the family is offering a $1000 reward for information.
