Steelers player Adams stabbed in robbery attempt

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- An offensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers was stabbed twice during an attempted carjacking early Saturday on the city's South Side, police said. Police said 23-year-old Michael Adams told officers he was standing near his truck shortly after 3 a.m. when he was confronted by three men, one armed with a knife and one armed with a handgun. Adams told police the trio tried to carjack him, but he didn't have his car keys. He said "the situation escalated" and one man pointed the gun at his face while the other stabbed him twice before all three fled, according to police.

For sale: Morgue refrigerator

NEW YORK (AP) -- It's a fridge big enough for a family of four. New York's Office of General Services has turned to eBay in an attempt to sell off a huge, steel morgue refrigerator now located at a Manhattan psychiatric hospital. Bidding on Saturday afternoon was up to $475 for the four-drawer unit, but that price doesn't include delivery. Buyers have to be willing to remove the fridge themselves from the Manhattan Psychiatric Center. Office of General Services spokeswoman Heather Groll tells the New York Post (http://bit.ly/11htBpM ) that the ad is no hoax.

Man suspected of painting crosswalk

VALLEJO, Calif. (AP) -- A Northern California man is facing vandalism charges after authorities say he painted a crosswalk on a street, allegedly telling officials it was needed. Fifty-two-year-old Anthony Cardenas was arrested Thursday morning in Vallejo and booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of felony vandalism. Solano County Sheriff's Lt. Brad DeWall says workers spotted Cardenas committing the vandalism at a city intersection. The intersection already has three crosswalks. DeWall says Cardenas also painted lines through those.
