THE LATEST FROM HERSHEY: Five local wrestlers head to quarterfinals, others stay in the tourney

2:20 p.m. update
HERSHEY – Benton's Joe Klock (126 pounds) and Colton Babcock (132), Southern Columbia's Cade Linn (152), Warrior Run's Jeremy Hanford (126) and Danville's Jarrett Walters (220) all won their first-round consolation matches to stay alive in the PIAA Class 2A Wrestling Championships.

Warrior Run's Noah Hunt (106) and Cal Haladay (160) were eliminated with losses.

Wrestling resumes tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.

12:59 p.m. update
HERSHEY – Southern Columbia's Jaret Lane (113 pounds), Todd Lane (145) and Gaige Garcia (170), along with Benton's Cole Rhone (120) and Bloomsburg's Colby Bronzburg (113) all won their first-round matches at the PIAA Class 2A Wrestling Championships at the Giant Center Thursday morning.

The Lanes, Garcia, Rhone and Bronzburg will all wrestle in the quarterfinals on Friday morning.

Bloomsburg's Bronzburg was awarded a forfeit in his first-round match after Chestnut Ridge's Dylan Williams was scratched from the tournament with a skin condition. Bronzburg won his preliminary bout over Bermudian Springs' Landon West, 6-0, to get into the first round.

Local wrestlers competing in the consolation first round include Warrior Run's Noah Hunt (106) and Jeremy Hanford (126), Southern Columbia's Cade Linn (152) and Cal Haladay (160),  Benton's Joe Klock (126) and Colton Babcock (132) and Danville's Jarrett Walters.

The first round on consolations will start by 1:30 p.m.
