Crash cuts power to Bloom-area homes
LIME RIDGE — Over 150 PPL customers lost power Monday afternoon after a woman crashed a silver Chevrolet Cobalt into a utility pole along Old Berwick Road near the Cobblestone Tavern.
The 1 p.m. crash sheared the pole, sending the top end of the pole hanging across Old Berwick Road with live wires dangling dangerously close to the road.
Armed robber hits convenience store
BLOOMSBURG — A man accused of brandishing a pistol and robbing a convenience store Monday morning was captured by police minutes later as he tried to flee on the interstate, officers say.
The suspect – Ajay Woodward, 24, Bloomsburg – was caught within minutes of robbing the busy store, which sits on the corner of Market and Seventh streets. That was a relief, said Fuel On Clerk April Carl of Bloomsburg.
