Here's a look at stories in the works for Saturday's edition: * In court Friday was the prisoner accused of improperly touching young girls from Danville in the visitation room at Retreat State Prison. Not if South Centre Township officials have anything to say about it. We'll soon know. * A fire that started in the kitchen damages a Berwick home. Julye Wemple is on the scene and will return with a report. * In an earlier crash, a man who gave chase to stop a drunken friend from driving home ends up with serious back injuries when his car crashes, police say. Mike Lester has the story.

Ex-cop on the run from law after shooting

MOUNT CARMEL -- A former police officer is on the lam after shooting his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend here early Tuesday morning, police say. Anthony James Galla, 31, fired seven shots from a .40-caliber handgun in a bedroom at 244 S. Walnut St. around 1 a.m., then fled before officers arrived, police say. One of the rounds hit a man, who police have not identified, in the foot. He was reportedly in surgery for the wound Tuesday morning.
